A Game made for WTF x IGDC game jam and the picked theme is "Chain Reaction".

  

Theme Suitability: 

Players need to smartly chain their actions in advance and execute them in the correct sequence to successfully navigate the grid and complete levels.


Overview: 

Gridy Thief!  is a strategic 2D puzzle game set on a 5x5 grid. Players must navigate through the grid, avoiding enemies, and reach the exit gate by queuing up a series of move actions.

 Each move the player makes is followed by the enemy, adding a layer of challenge and requiring precise planning to avoid obstacles and outsmart the enemy.

                     

Objective:

 The primary goal of the game is to reach the gate without getting caught by the enemy. Players need to smartly chain their actions in advance and execute them in the correct sequence to successfully navigate the grid.

                                 

                    

Play Rules:

  1. Starting the Game:
    • The player is placed at the starting position on the grid.
    • The enemy is placed at its starting position on the grid.
  2. Planning Moves:
    • The player selects move actions (left, right, up, down) and queues them in the desired order.
  3. Executing Moves:
    • Once the move sequence is queued, the player presses the "Start" button to begin execution.
    • The player and enemy take turns moving one cell at a time.
    • The player's actions are executed in the order they were queued.
  4. Avoiding the Enemy:
    • The player must avoid moving into the same cell as the enemy or in the viewing cell of the enemy.
    • The enemy moves or looks in its predefined path and mirrors the player’s movements.
  5. Reaching the Gate:
    • The game is won if the player reaches the exit gate without being caught by the enemy.
    • The game is lost if the player collides with the enemy.
